About me:
This is my sixth full year teaching at Crescent Academy, since I started my first year after the first week of school in 2014. In the past I worked in Detroit and Southfield at two different charter schools, and one year in Warren teaching Middle School Art. I also have experience in technical drawing, drafting, and CAD. I worked for Briggs & Stratton Corp. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a Tool Designer for four years before moving to Michigan.
I have my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (Drawing and Painting) from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and received my teaching certification (Post-Baccalaureate) at Eastern Michigan University. I also have taken two courses towards my master’s degree in Visual Arts Education.
In my free time I enjoy painting with watercolors or acrylic paints. I also enjoy traveling with my husband and visiting art museums, galleries, historical sites, and parks. We also enjoy traveling to Wisconsin, where most of my family lives. Much of my time is spent visiting my daughter, who teaches gifted math classes to 3rd through 6th grade students in Cincinnati. My younger daughter is studying Physical Therapy and is currently living in Livonia MI.
Every year I try to bring some new and exiting materials to the class. This year I am implementing more printing activities, like mono-prints and Styrofoam prints.
